Recovery

PERFECTS

A trauma-informed, cognitive behavioral approach to healing in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Recovery PERFECTS encourages you to follow Good Orderly Direction while exploring how scripture teaches you to love yourselves and each other unconditionally, while still setting boundaries to stay safe and work toward your rich and meaningful life.

You do not have to have faith in a deity to be welcome here.  All you have to do is follow the principles of Good Orderly Direction: Prudence, Endurance, Respect for yourself and others, Forgiveness of yourself and others, Earnestness in all that you do and say, Compassion for yourself and others, Truthfulness with yourself and others, and Selflessness.

Recovery PERFECTS is dedicated to fostering holistic well-being by embracing the principles of Good Orderly Direction (G.O.D) and creating a space where seekers can find solace, support, and spiritual growth on their unique journeys to healing and recovery.

Bible Studies

Welcome To

Recovery PERFECTS

We are a new type of fellowship that encourages you to live your life and judge your own actions based on the principles of Good Orderly Direction: Prudence (knowledge and patience), Earnestness (doing what you say you will to the best of your ability); Respect for yourself and others; Forgiveness of yourself and others; Endurance of trials and challenges by seeking support in God and the fellowship; Compassion for yourself and others; Truthfulness with yourself and others and Selflessness (giving credit where credit is due and avoiding the pride trap).

Everyone who is part of the fellowship at Recovery PERFECTS is expected to follow the principles of Good Orderly Direction toward themselves and others.  However, most of us have never experienced this type of love and acceptance and may not have fully developed these skills.  That is okay!  All we expect is that you earnestly try.

You are not your behaviors.  You are loveable, even if some of your behaviors are not.  Through participation in the fellowship, you will learn new skills, strengthen your supports and begin using your energy to move toward a rich and meaningful life of abundance.

Many times our inability to love ourselves contributes to difficulty trusting others and believing that they love us.

Likewise, many of us were taught that we were only lovable if we gave until we were completely burned out. I argue that failig to set boundaries and allowing yourself to become overly drained is not loving toward yourself and when you are burned out you are not able to help other people, therefore, allowing yoursel fto get drained from too much giving is also un-loving.

Love as a Source of Strength

Intro
Love is often portrayed as a source of weakness, but it can also be a powerful source of strength. This video will explore how love can empower you to overcome challenges, build resilience, and live a more fulfilling life
What is Love
Love is a feeling we have toward others we care about and want as part of our community
Love is a feeling we have when we feel safe and accepted (warts and all)
Love is a set of behaviors that we use to help ourselves and others feel safe and accepted and part of a supportive community.
Love as Weakness
Love makes us vulnerable to being blinded because we do not want to feel the heartbreak so we ignore or even enable unloving behaviors.
Love can cause heartbreak when we see someone struggling or hurting and recognize that we have to respect their boundaries and cannot force them to change

Love Strengthens You and Those you Love
1 Thessalonians 5:14: And we urge you to admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
God is Love
1 John 4:8: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:16 God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him
1 John 4:18: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Love builds a supportive community
When we act lovingly toward ourselves and others we feel safe and accepted

Start by Loving Yourself
Matthew 22:37-40
And he said to him, “You shall God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Love in the Bible
1 Corinthians 13:1-7: The Way of Love...
Reflection
Love your neighbor as yourself.
How do you love yourself?
How do you hate, resent yourself?
How can you focus on hating the behaviors and seeing faults as an opportunity to grow?
How is succumbing to greed, idolatry and laziness unloving? How does that impact your ability to love yourself and others?
How does hate, resentment, envy or lust toward your neighbor or people in your past keep you from being able to love yourself or others?
How can you become more aware of these unloving behaviors, identify their origin, and replace them with loving alternatives?
Further Study
Go to Openbible.info/topics or another AI and ask for 20 passages in the bible about how to love and think how each passage could help you love yourself and others.
Prudence: Patience, knowledge and wisdom
Endurance to do the hard things
Respect for self and others
Forgiveness of self and others
Compassion for self and others
Truthfulness with self and others
Selflessness
